Press Release July 11, 2023

Houston, TX (July 11, 2023) JRMA (J. R. Miller & Associates), a leading architectural, engineering, and planning firm specializing in the design of solid waste and recycling transfer stations, materials recovery facilities (MRFs), and anaerobic digestion/biogas plants (AD), is pleased to announce the successful completion of construction for the City of Albuquerque Edith Transfer Station Maintenance Building.

JRMA initially conducted a feasibility study for the City of Albuquerque, evaluating potential sites and design criteria for a new central transfer station. After careful evaluation, JRMA proposed redeveloping the existing Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) facilities on Edith Boulevard as the site for the project. The proposed City of Albuquerque Edith Transfer Station Complex would include a transfer station, administration offices, a vehicle maintenance facility, public drop-off areas for recyclables and Household Hazardous Waste (HHW), and other essential components. The phased plan involved constructing the new 50,100 sf maintenance facility as phase 1, with future phases incorporating additional elements such as a recycling drop-off center, guard shack, administration building, and parking/landscaping. The facility complex designed by JRMA includes 19 state-of-the-art truck service bays, two-story office space, training rooms, and break areas to support efficient operations.

"We are thrilled to have successfully completed the City of Albuquerque Edith Transfer Station Maintenance Building project," said James Yost, Principal Architect r at JRMA. "This project exemplifies our expertise in designing functional and sustainable facilities, and we are proud to have contributed to the City's waste management infrastructure."
