Blue Line Biogenic AD & RNG Facility

South San Francisco, CA

Bringing SMARTFERM® technology to another facility, Zero Waste Energy selected JRMA to design an anaerobic digestion (AD) and compressed natural gas (CNG) facility that reduces waste and produces energy. The eight SMARTFERM® AD units transform organic material, such as plant and food waste, into BioCNG that can be used to fuel Blue Line’s CNG collection vehicles from four, onsite fueling stations.

With the capacity to transform 11,200 tons of organic materials each year, the facility will produce up to 120,000 diesel-equivalent gallons of CNG annually. With this facility, Blue Line is closing the loop as collection trucks collect organics that will be turned into their fuel.
