Improvements to an existing building shell and site to accommodate a
new tortilla manufacturing facility. The existing 200,000 s.f. building
shell was retrofitted to include a 6,000 s.f. administrative office,
multi-line flour and corn tortilla production, frying room, product
storage, shipping/receiving and employee support areas.
This project attained a LEED Gold certification for sustainability.
Among its many green features were reduced potable water use, optimized
energy performance, enhanced refrigerant management, re-use of existing
building materials, recycled and local building materials, low-emitting
building materials, increased ventilation, and thermal comfort measures.
Work performed: Architectural and structural engineering design
services, design development, construction documents, agency coordination
and construction administration.
