Shoreway Pursues LEED Certification
Among Shoreway Environmental Center's many sustainable features will be an improved traffic flow plan, photovoltaic panels and/or wind turbines to generate power for the facility, pervious pavement, water-efficient irrigation & plantings, recycled content building materials, reuse of materials, and rain water harvest and use.

An important goal for this solid waste facility is to achieve a LEED Silver rating through the use of alternative 'green' energy sources, recycled building materials, and a host of other features. It will also contain an educational center and viewing gallery, where visitors can learn about sustainability and see the recycling process in action.
